Summary:
The American Institute of Physics (AIP) is seeking a dynamic individual committed to the next generation of physical scientists. AIP is looking for an Assistant Director to provide day to day operational management of the Society of Physics Students (SPS), Sigma Pi Sigma the Physics Honor Society, and other education programs. Responsibilities will include working with the Director to assess and manage programs and staff, conduct long-range planning, promote student programs, and provide membership management for these programs.
This hands-on management position will work with colleagues, staff, and key volunteers to develop education and membership activities to advance AIP’s presence in the physical sciences/physics arena for undergraduates.

Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have at least a master’s degree plus five or more years’ experience either in a scientific non-profit or higher education, with 3-4 years of experience in developing and leading student programs (STEM preferred), and three or more years of management experience. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, grant writing experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize. This person will enjoy collaborating with and working with a diverse and energetic staff committed to improving physics education at the undergraduate level.
