Description

The mission of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) is to advance the science, education and professional practice of Medical Physics; a broad-based scientific and professional discipline which encompasses physical principles with applications in biology and medicine. With 8,683 members in 95 countries, AAPM supports the Medical Physics community with a focus on advancing patient care through education, improving safety and efficacy of radiation oncology and medical imaging procedures through research, and the maintenance of professional standards.

 

AAPM leads a multi-society initiative to promote the Integration of the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) – Radiation Oncology (RO), fostering seamless connectivity and integration of radiotherapy equipment and the patient health information systems. The Working Group IHE-RO, in close collaboration with radiotherapy product manufacturers, develops integration profiles for radiation therapy and coordinates demonstrations of seamless communication among the full array of radiotherapy products. The Programs Manager serves as the project manager for the activities of the volunteers and vendors participating in IHE-RO consistent with both the charges of the WG IHE-RO and the goals and objectives of AAPM. The Programs Manager also serves as the primary staff liaison and informed resource contact to the WG IHE-RO and its subgroups, to include IHE-RO Planning Subcommittee, the IHE-RO Clinical Advisory Subcommittee and the IHE-RO Technical Subcommittee.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Program Manager will work a part-time schedule at 18.75 hours per week split over at least 3 days. 

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. Minimum of two (2) years in related nonprofit or project management experience required. Experience with a scientific or professional society preferred. Ability to manage multiple projects, identify mission critical processes and adapt to shifting job requirements with minimal supervision. Must handle the English language well; understand the nuances of governance issues; record keeping, and project management. Must communicate effectively with management, colleagues, and association leaders. High-level proficiency in a MAC environment, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to travel both internationally and domestically as needed for the Association (about 3-4 times per year).
