Summary:

The American Institute of Physics is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated Digital Projects Assistant. This temporary, part-time position is a critical role that works with the Digital Collections Manager, Niels Bohr Library & Archives (NBL&A), and AIP staff to contribute to maintenance and improvements of digital collections as NBL&A migrates collections to a new digital asset management system.
 

Primary duties include: assisting with site user testing and analysis; creating, editing, and performing quality control of metadata and digital files; contributing to ongoing digital projects and outreach efforts that support the DAMS project.
 

*This role is currently 100% remote and will eventually switch back to our office environment as the Institute continues to respond to the coronavirus, government mandates and considers the best action to keep the AIP staff safe.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and/or archival experience in user testing, DAMS administration, metadata creation, copyright research, or other relevant areas.
  • Preferred: Student currently enrolled or recently graduated from a Master’s degree program in library/information science, experience working with XML, MODS, Rights Statements, MARC, LCSH, and UX, and an interest in accessibility of digital collections.
  • Knowledge of science is not required.
