Summary

The American Institute of Physics is seeking a part-time Oral History Collection Assistant. This is a 6-month temporary position. The successful candidate will work with the Assistant Oral Historian to assess, process, and edit oral history transcripts, and assist with other tasks relating to the oral history collection.

 

Essential Functions

  • Copy edit, format, and incorporate interviewee edits into oral history interview transcripts.
  • Review, reconcile, and update oral history records and metadata.
  • Keep track of their progress using Excel and the library’s Access database and be detail oriented to make sure the work is completed in a timely manner with as few mistakes as possible.

 

Proposal Packet Must Include: Cover letter, resume and a completed application.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in history of science, library science or related field. Graduate student preferred.
  • Must be comfortable using word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, data entry, organization, and proofreading skills.
