Director of Talent and Culture

As the Director of Talent and Culture for the American Institute of Physics (AIP), you will be a leader on the Talent and Culture team and focus your energy on creating, enhancing, implementing, managing, and evaluating programs and policies in talent assessment, learning and development, recruitment, and employee relations. Working on a team of five, you and the other Director (HRIS, benefits, and compensation), Talent Specialist, and Talent Associate will support the Chief Talent and Culture Officer (CTCO) and 125 AIP staff, while also providing support services to our member societies as needed. Working closely with the CTCO, you will determine how we intentionally evolve our organizational culture and structure into an institute that makes use of cross-organizational capabilities and agile teams. At AIP, we believe in the power of the physical sciences to shape a better world and we have embarked on our Strategic Framework for 2020-2025 to benefit humanity by advancing, promoting, and serving the physical sciences.

Using the strategic framework, you will support the CTCO in advancing the mission of the Talent and Culture function: to provide the people strategy, programs, and policies that cultivate an effective, talented, diverse, and engaged workforce that delivers excellence to AIP and its stakeholders. You will ensure AIP’s recruitment and onboarding processes incorporate best practices, and that diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and accessibility (DEIBA) are interwoven in all aspects of the employee life cycle (attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, reward and recognition, progression and performance, retention, and separation). You will develop, implement, manage, and evaluate programs and initiatives that will enable our internal talent to deliver on the vision of AIP-2025. Although highly focused on talent strategy, employee development, and DEIAB, you will integrate with all aspects of the Talent and Culture function, including compensation and benefits, performance management, and the future of hybrid work at AIP.

We are also a federation, advancing the success of our 10 Member Societies.
