Summary:
AIP is seeking an Assistant Controller, to manage the day-to-day functions of the accounting and finance department under the direction of the Controller. The Assistant Controller will be expected to perform a variety of general accounting functions. The position is responsible for applying general principles of accounting, reviewing and analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports.
This includes AIP, AIP Foundation, ACP and AIP consolidation, which is a total of four financial reporting statements.
What you’ll do:
- Monitor and review financial transactions and activities.
- Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
- Evaluate current accounting policies and practices and drives continuous improvement.
- Preparation of audit work papers and supporting schedules for annual financial audit and employee benefit plan audit.
- Responsible for FORM 990 and 990T including the UBIT calculations.
- Monthly close process for entire team to adhere to the schedule.
- Responsible for Financial System Maintenance, which includes Chart of Accounts, hierarchy structure and report development.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating all activities within the procurement, payroll and general accounting areas to ensure accurate and timely processing and recording of all transactions.
- Responsible for evaluating all general accounting functions to continually recommend process improvements.
- Understand all general accounting functions to provide assistance or cross-training as needed.
- Develops, implements, and maintains internal controls relating to areas of responsibility.
- Recruits, trains/develops, supervises and evaluates staff.
- Customer service liaison for member society in regard to billing and service agreements.
- Other duties as assigned by the Controller.
- Assist with forecasting and budgeting for operations, personnel and capital.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
- CPA is required.
- 10-15 years progressive accounting experience and excellent tenure, preferably in not-for-profit as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail oriented and highly organized.
- Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and NFP accounting.
