Description

The American Institute of Physics (AIP) is seeking a full-time Member Society Relations Liaison to interact with the Member Societies across the federation and throughout the Institute.  The Liaison will aim to improve AIP's relationships with the Member Societies through written communications and face-to-face interactions, as well as increase the frequency and consistency by which AIP communicates with Member Society leadership and volunteers connected with AIP.
 

This individual will work to maximize interactions with the Member Societies and their overall experience with AIP by drafting reports and communications that highlight compelling aspects of the AIP-Member Society relationship.
 

The Liaison will assure, across the Institute, a high-level of awareness about AIP Member Societies' mission, activities, challenges, etc., so that AIP, as a whole, can better understand and serve the Societies. The individual will implement a means for tracking the Member Society customer relationship, communications, and volunteer involvement.

 

This Liaison will manage the AIP presence at Member Society conferences. This includes coordinating with the MS their goals for an AIP booth, working with the Marketing team to promote those AIP offerings most valued by the MS, staffing exhibit booths, handling all booth logistics, managing AIP staff attendance at the conferences, and drafting memos to the MS that summarize AIP’s involvement.
 

Other responsibilities include coordinating events (e.g. the Assembly of Society Officers, and AIP-Member Society networking and professional development events), helping to manage the various AIP liaison, advisory, and awards committees; supporting recruitment efforts through research; working with the Marketing team to better promote the benefits for belonging to AIP; and drafting/disseminating reports on meetings and conference calls.

 

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Customer Relations, Communications, or in the sciences with subsequent education/experience is required. Five years of relevant experience in some combination of program or project management, communications, and customer relations.  Excellent organizational skills, as well as written and verbal skills.  Experience with customer relationship management software a plusExperience in the not-for-profit sector desirable
