Description
The American Institute of Physics, Niels Bohr Library & Archives, is seeking a part-time Archives Assistant who will work with the Archivist and the archives staff to rehouse archival collections in acid-free folders and boxes.

Essential Functions:
Assists in arranging collections into series and subseries; describe collections in MARC records and EAD finding aids; research biographical/historical information to create Encoded Archival Context-Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families (EAC-CPF) records; assist in digitizing archival collections for inclusion in our digital repository. Other tasks as assigned, including assisting with occasional reference desk duty, writing blog posts to feature our collections, and assisting with museum-style displays in the reading room, and other technical and non-routine tasks in the library and archives as needed.

Qualifications:
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or previous library or archives experience required; currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in archival studies preferred.  The ideal candidate will have previous experience in collections processing and have proofreading skills and attention to detail. Must be able to lift 40 pound boxes of library materials. Knowledge of science is not required. 24 hrs. per week. Flexible work schedule.
