Description
The American Institute of Physics is seeking a full-time Receptionist to provide limited administrative support in responsibility areas of Office Services.

Essential Functions:
She/he will follow basic routines, standard procedures, and written instructions. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, issuing visitor passes, and directing guests to proper Division or Society, as well as answer and route miscellaneous automated attendant calls. The ideal candidate will reserve ACP meeting rooms for ACP Societies, prepare and distribute weekly meeting schedule to Office Services, Information Services, and Building Engineers. Maintain ID database; maintain parking database and act as a liaison with security guards regarding parking violations. Place service calls for ACP owned equipment in the cafeteria and prep room, folding machine, and shredder. Serve as primary contact with employees and the University of Maryland regarding ACP’s Affiliate status for UMD ID cards. Perform clerical duties (mailings, data entry, etc.) for Societies if available and any other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent is desired with a minimum of two years of administrative experience in an office environment. Must have excellent verbal, written, and telephone skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with staff, visitors and vendors and the proven ability to work independently and within a team. Experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel is required. The position requires extensive sitting and the ability to lift 20 pounds.
