Summary:
The American Institute of Physics (AIP) is seeking an inquisitive, organized and attentive part-time (30 hours a week) Digitization Specialist. This position will work on large- and small-scale digitization projects such as preparing and scanning books, manuscript items, photographs, and other materials.

Other essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Digitize materials using a variety of machines including: Zeutschel OS 12000, Epson 10000XL, Epson V550, and Crowley ODS
  • Process digital images using Adobe Photoshop
  • Perform quality control on digitized images
  • Assign metadata and other descriptors to digitized images
  • Assist in refining digitization and digital object management workflows
  • Provide production and project statistics to Digital Strategy Archivist and NBL&A team
  • Provide reference services to NBL&A researchers and patrons.
  • Other duties and special projects as needed

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or 2 years of previous experience required (Preferred: experience working in a library/archive environment, experience working with scanning equipment or digitization projects)

Required Skills

  • Must be able to handle library and archive materials with care
  • Attention to detail and an ability to follow library policies and procedures
  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently
  • Ability to work with computer software (particularly Adobe Photoshop, EPSON Scan, and MS Access, Outlook, Word, and Excel)
