Description
Society of Physics Students (SPS), in the American Institute of Physics Division of Education is seeking an SPS Programs Coordinator who will be responsible for the implementation of a variety of SPS programs

Essential Functions:
The SPS Programs Coordinator will work under the supervision of the SPS Programs Manager to carry out innovative programs and revise existing programs including scholarships and awards programs for the undergraduate physics community; as well as assist with the SPS Summer internship program.  She/he will perform initial evaluation of all applications for student and chapter programs as well as process all awards and scholarships. The SPS Programs Coordinator will also serve as the initial point of contact for SPS undergraduate members, drafting and responding to general inquiries. She/he will also work closely with the communications team and SPS Programs Manager to draft and disseminate content through social media platforms, the SPS newsletter, and the SPS website. The successful candidate will also have a strong interest and experience in developing and implementing outreach activities and physics demonstrations. Our office is located within walking distance of the College Park Metro and the University of Maryland. 

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in physics or a relevant scientific subject area required (with substantial physics coursework at least equivalent to a physics minor).  At least 1 -2 years of relevant work experience or relevant Master’s degree preferred. Interest in science education essential. Familiarity with social media platforms and web content management is preferred. Must have excellent communication, written, and telephone skills. Experience in computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Physical ability to perform lifting, assembly and disassembly of display components. The ideal candidate will have proven ability to work within a diverse team environment, have strong interpersonal skills, and a high customer focus.
