The Statistical Research Center (SRC) is the research arm of the American Institute of Physics (AIP) that provides critical data on education and physics programs, careers in physical sciences, and diversity within the world of physical sciences. Who you are:

The Statistical Research Center at AIP is seeking a full-time Research Analyst to assist in conducting survey-based studies of education and employment in the physical sciences. As the Research Analyst, you will play a critical role in the creation and implementation of research studies. You will have the flexibility to work remotely with the expectation that you will report to the office when needed.

What you’ll do:

  • Work as part of a team conducting surveys of the scientific workforce.
  • Perform analysis using statistical software.
  • Perform database management.
  • Manage mailings.
  • Assist in questionnaire development, data analysis, interpretation, and report production.


What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, statistics, or physics (with knowledge of inferential statistics) preferred. Equivalent combination of education and work experience is desired.
  • Experience with statistical software packages (SPSS or R preferred), attention to detail, excellent computer skills, and excellent written communication skills.
  • Experience with social science or survey research and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of HTML/CSS preferred.
  • Must be very detail oriented, organized, and able to multitask. Project management skills.
