Summary:

Science News Writer Internship opportunity with Inside Science, an editorially independent news website of the American Institute of Physics (AIP). This is a remote position for undergraduate or graduate student journalists who have studied either news reporting or science and is full time during the summer or fall. The 2021 summer or fall internship is expected to be for 40 hours per week and to last 12 weeks. Hours, start date and schedule will be flexible.

 

The successful journalist candidate for Inside Science will be responsible for independently reporting breaking science news under the guidance and direction of website staff. This includes pitching, writing and editing news stories for: Inside Science News Service (AP-style wire service for science news) and the online content that accompanies Inside Science videos. Course credit for internship requirement will be certified where applicable.

 

Proposal Packet Must Include: Cover letter, resume, a completed application and writing sample.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should be recent graduates or individuals pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degrees in relevant fields such as Journalism, Broadcasting or Science
  • Interest and demonstrated ability in news writing; excellent writing and communication skills; attention to detail; internet savviness; interest in science.
