Summary
The American Institute of Physics is seeking an enthusiastic science writing intern who is passionate about sharing cutting-edge science with journalists and the public.

 

This internship is focused on writing for the American Institute of Physics' News and Media services program. This is a great opportunity for students studying science or science communication. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply. This paid, summer internship is under the direction of the News & Media Services team and is expected to be for 40 hours per week and last 12 weeks. Hours, start date and schedule will be flexible.

 

This internship will work independently to write and research topics for press releases, Scilights and potentially contribute to AIP's social media efforts. Course credit for internship requirement will be certified where applicable. Our office is within walking distance from College Park Metro and near the University of Maryland.

  3. At least two non-fiction news writing or video samples for a general-public audience.

 

Qualifications:
• Recent graduates and individuals pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degrees in relevant fields such as Science Writing, Journalism, or Science

• Interest and demonstrated ability in news writing; excellent writing and communication skills; very detail oriented and internet savvy. Interest in science and experience preparing news items are needed.
